Engineered Posture Device

An adjustable posture brace that pairs a 2:1 gear system with flexible 3D-printed TPU for even, targeted support.

Engineered Posture Device
Overview

I designed an adjustable posture brace that pairs a 2:1 gear system with a flexible, 3D-printed frame, so the brace spreads support evenly across the back while staying comfortable to wear. The design grew out of research into how the spine carries load and a run of prototypes. The pages below are from my design journal.

The result

The finished prototype holds the wearer upright and takes the strain off the lower back. Testers reported better posture and more comfort than the stiff, one-size braces the design set out to replace.
